Checklist for the competition
Before loading the transporter
Unnecessary hectic and stress on competition day can be avoided with good preparation and organisation. It is best to prepare everything for the departure the day before. This also includes a quick check of the transporter. Are the brakes and lights working? Are the floors in order? Do the tyres look good? If the trailer is OK, you can also hang up the hay net and lay out fresh bedding.
The evening before is also an ideal time to plan the route and the exact schedule for the next day. You can save the organiser’s address in your sat nav and check the route for potential closures. Allow enough time to prepare and load your horse, especially if it doesn’t like to get into the trailer.
