Which workwear is suitable for the yard?
There are many different tasks in the stable that can lead to superficial injuries such as abrasions or splinters here and there. Whether mucking out, turning horses in and out, setting up jumping courses, repairing stables, checking or building new fences, the risk of injury to legs, arms, hands and feet can be everywhere. This means you need robust, functional work clothing that can prevent any avoidable, superficial injuries.
Work clothing for an equestrian yard should be durable, and also practical. Small items such as mobile phones, hoof picks or hoof knives need to be stowed away. The work jackets and work gilets from Equestrian Work Wear are ideal for this. The work jackets for the yard should therefore be equipped with lots of practical pockets that are easily accessible and easy to open and close. This is the only way to have all the tools you need quickly to hand, allowing you to carry out your work effectively. Although you can also use a riding jacket or riding gilet, the features of a work jacket from Equestrian Work Wear are better designed specifically for working around the yard.
The same applies to tops for working. There is no argument against a short-sleeved or long-sleeved functional shirt that you would also wear while riding. However, Equestrian Work Wear's long-sleeved shirts are the perfect complement to workwear in the yard. Not only are they breathable and quick-drying, they also keep you dry and pleasantly warm during strenuous work. Kangaroo pockets round off the Equestrian Work Wear functional shirts for day-to-day work in the yard.
You can of course also wear breeches for stable work. However, work trousers are better suited for practical work in and around the yard. Thanks to the strategically positioned pockets and reinforced material, you can store tools and aids more easily, and better protect your legs from superficial, avoidable injuries. The work trousers from Equestrian Work Wear also have pre-shaped knee areas so that the trouser legs do not slip or pinch when squatting.
Equestrian Work Wear proves that clothing for an outdoor lifestyle and work wear can be functional and stylish. At Kramer Equestrian, you can buy a range of women's workwear and put together your complete work wear and outdoor lifestyle looks for the yard:
- Yard work jackets for the whole year
- Functional gilets for the yard

Which materials are suitable when it comes to workwear for the yard?
Workwear materials should be robust and reinforced to prevent superficial injuries such as abrasions and splinters. You can injure your arms when carrying fence posts or jumping poles, something easily avoided by wearing work jackets made of reinforced materials. Work trousers also have significant advantages over breeches when working due to their robust material and pre-shaped knee areas.
The fabrics should also be durable to prevent premature holes, tears and split seams during use.
For this reason, the Equestrian Work Wear brand uses materials such as nylon, polyester or reinforced canvas. The latter is used for the thighs of the work trousers, for example. Canvas material is a coarse cotton and/or polyester fabric made from thicker fibres. This makes it particularly hard-wearing and ideal for robust workwear in the stable.
The thicker the material, the greater the water and wind-repellent properties of the work wear, so that you can carry out your work in the stable, field or arena whatever the weather.
To ensure that the workwear is easy to care for and that any dirt and grime can be washed off easily, material impregnation is important in addition to density. Equestrian Work Wear incorporates the ecological BIONIC-FINISH® impregnation. This is a PFC-free (fluorine-free) and therefore environmentally friendly impregnation, which is characterised by a high density of water-repellent elements.
Furthermore, the material of the workwear should be comfortable to wear, i.e. not remain stiff when moving. With this in mind, fabrics such as cotton or elastane are also used in Equestrian Work Wear. As a result, the clothing feels pleasantly soft on the skin and allows unrestricted freedom of movement during work tasks.
How do you care for workwear for the stable?
Although Equestrian Work Wear is easy to care for, it still requires special care - especially if it is impregnated.
The basic material of the Equestrian Work Wear is water and dirt repellent due to its processing alone, so that light soiling can simply be wiped off with a damp sponge.
In order to preserve the impregnation for as long as possible, the clothing should not be washed too often. If you do need to wash them, it is best to use a functional detergent that does not strip the materials. If the water-repellent properties wear off at some point, you should renew the impregnation. You can do this by spraying it on or washing it in. For the second option, you can buy an impregnating detergent for clothing from SHOWMASTER, which you can find at Kramer Equestrian in the care products for riding clothing.
Which accessories go with workwear in the stable?
Accessories are far more than just a nice-to-have addition. Scarves, neck warmers, hats and headbands, as well as gloves, are essential parts of workwear and, depending on the time of year, keep you warm at work on cold days. Equestrian Work Wear offers neck warmers and headbands made from warm knitted fleece to complete your work wear collection for the yard. The processed wool blend is not only soft and comfortable on the skin, but also keeps you warm. The fluffy fleece inside of the neck warmers and headbands provides additional insulation and cosiness.
The anatomical cut of the Equestrian Work Wear headbands keeps your face clear while your ears are completely covered. This means it sits securely throughout every movement and doesn't slip over your eyes. An absolute must for daily work in the yard.
The neck warmer from Equestrian Work Wear is also anatomically cut, longer at the front than at the back. This keeps your neck ideally protected from cold draughts. A drawstring at the back helps with the fit.
Gloves are another accessory that are an essential part of work clothing in the yard. At Kramer Equestrian, you will always find the right gloves for summer, winter or year-round use. In our western range you will find genuine leather work gloves and in the mucking out category you can buy rubberised work gloves.
To protect your feet, you can buy shoes with certified steel toe caps in our range of yard boots. This protects your toes from being injured by hooves, falling posts, etc.
