Which materials are suitable for riding clothes?
Fabrics for riding clothes are specially designed to meet the needs of riders. They are characterised by a high level of wearing comfort, are wind and water-repellent and at the same time highly breathable. In summer they should allow good air circulation, while in winter they should keep you warm. Soft shell combines all these properties and can be used universally. Soft shell is often used in riding jackets and coats for women, and is an excellent fabric for transitional jackets and light summer jackets.
Synthetic fibres and cotton blends are particularly well suited in riding clothes to allow moisture to dry faster, which is why these fabrics are not just popular in long-sleeved shirts and short-sleeved shirts for riders. The Quick Dry property is also very important for sweat jackets and riding gilets.
For cold winter days, there are knitted & turtleneck jumpers, which are excellent for both riding and everyday wear thanks to their cotton-synthetic blends.
Fleece fabrics are often used for cosy fleece jackets. You can recognise high-quality fleece by the fact that it hardly pills or does not pill at all (pilling = small, matted balls on the surface of the fabric) and that the material has a high fibre density. Our fleece jackets are of high quality and keep you cosy and warm. The high-pile fleece we use forms an insulating layer between the skin and the outer material, which additionally warms the body. In combination with a riding gilet, you are perfectly equipped for the stable in winter.
When it rains outside, you are well advised to wear our water-repellent or waterproof rainwear. These are either made of a wax-cotton coating that makes the water roll off. Or our rain jackets are impregnated to meet the high demands of equestrian sports in any weather. At the competition, freedom of movement is important in addition to a pleasing appearance. That is why our competition jackets and competition shirts are extremely comfortable to wear thanks to flexible materials. Thanks to the extremely stretchy and fast-drying fibres, you can concentrate on your riding performance without the competition jacket pinching you uncomfortably at any point.
What is the best way to care for functional shirts?
Our functional shirts for riders are easy to care for and do not need to be washed thoroughly after every riding session. Hand washing is often sufficient. Only after the fourth hand wash should the functional shirt be put in the washing machine.
Close all Velcros and zips before washing so that the material is not rubbed down. Wash the shirt with garments of similar materials, for example, you can put our short-sleeved shirts, long-sleeved shirts and stretchy sweat jackets together in the washing machine. Use a liquid detergent on a low spin cycle at 30°C maximum. Fabric softeners are a no-no for functional materials, including our riding clothes, as the agent can damage the fibres and limit functionality. Drying in a tumble dryer can also damage the fibres to such an extent that the functional shirt loses its breathability. Air drying is best. For stubborn odours that persist even after washing, add a cup of light household vinegar to the detergent. This neutralises the bad odours.
