Are fleece jackets suitable for riding?
Fleece jackets should not be missing from any rider's wardrobe, as fleece has many advantages for everyday stable use. Fleece dries quickly, is light, robust, has high breathability and keeps the body warm. Even when slightly wet, fleece does not lose its thermal insulation. With the right cut, the fabric hugs the body perfectly in every movement and ensures a comfortable feeling. Fleece jackets are therefore essential outerwear for riders.
However, wearing a fleece jacket is disadvantageous during the period of coat change, as they attract the horse's hair like a magnet. It is advisable to put a riding jacket or riding gilet with a smooth surface over the fleece jacket to prevent the hair from sticking. At Kramer Equestrian you will find sweat and fleece jackets in stylish colours and patterns of varying thickness. Prints and high-quality embroidery enhance the look of the jackets. Practical thumb loops prevent the sleeves from riding up.
What are the advantages of a fleece jacket?
Fleece jackets fulfil almost all the criteria of a good functional riding jacket. They are very lightweight and at the same time have a high thermal performance. Thanks to the high breathability and excellent moisture management of fleece, a fleece jacket keeps you cosy, warm and allows a pleasant body climate even under a winter riding jacket or rain jacket. This prevents unpleasant chills. In summer, our fleece jackets are suitable as light overcoats over shirts and blouses.
Many of our fleece jackets for women have a high, wide collar to protect the sensitive neck area from draughts. Add a scarf to reduce the risk of catching a cold.
Our sweat and fleece jackets have a soft feel against the skin, because cosy, comfortable clothing is particularly important on the horse or when working in the stables. Sweat jackets with a soft lining of teddy fleece or warm fleece provide that special snuggle factor.
How long does fleece take to dry?
Fleece jackets should never be put in the dryer. Because fleece is polyester or polyester blends, it is not heat resistant. For this very reason, a fleece jacket should not be ironed. But this is not necessary at all, because fleece dries quickly anyway. It's best to hang wet fleece jackets on the washing line in a well-ventilated place. Depending on the thickness of the material, your jacket will dry within 3 hours at room temperature. Near your heater, the drying time can be reduced to 2 hours.
How breathable are fleece jackets?
Fleece jackets are particularly breathable and at the same time have a high insulation capacity and are lightweight. In contrast to cotton, the breathability of fleece jackets is many times higher, as it does not store moisture like cotton, but quickly releases it into the environment. The closer the fabric is to the body, the higher the breathability. That is why our fleece jackets for women are cut close to the body, but without constricting the rider. In addition to the high breathability, the fast drying properties make a fleece jacket the perfect piece of riding clothing.
