How should the spur straps be fastened?
There are different ways of attaching spurs. The classic spurs are fastened with spur straps. Western riders attach their spurs in a similar way, but the spur straps differ a little bit.
Classically, the spur straps are pulled inside-out through the slots of the spur slits. Then the spurs are pushed onto the heel so that the straps run along the bottom in front of the heel and over the top of the instep. The buckle points outwards away from the horse's body and is tightened until the spur is snug. However, it must not be too tight or pinch, as this can lead to unpleasant pressure points.
Which material should the spur straps be made of?
Spur straps must be hard-wearing and durable. Robust materials such as leather or nylon are in demand here. At Kramer Equestrian you will find spur straps made of nylon, leather or imitation leather. Our range of spur straps are rounded off with fine details such as glittering stones, glittering optics and different colours. Spur protectors made of real leather or rubber protect your long riding boots and Jodphur boots from premature wear and prevent the spurs from slipping.
