WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING CHILDREN'S RIDING CLOTHES?
Horse-loving girls and boys love to spend time at the yard. Weather and seasons only play a subordinate role. This makes it all the more important to make the right choice when it comes to riding clothes for children. First and foremost, your child should feel comfortable in his or her riding outfit. Therefore, besides playful designs, comfortable materials and a good fit, safety is particularly important. If your child wants to try it out for the first time, you don't have to buy them a complete wardrobe straight away. For a start, a children's riding hat, children's riding breeches and a pair of children's riding gloves are sufficient to protect the child and provide sufficient grip on the hands and buttocks. A bicycle helmet is unsuitable as it does not meet the safety standards of a riding hat. When choosing shoes, you should look for a non-slip sole and a slight heel so that the child's foot does not slip through the stirrup. Rubber boots are suitable at first, but you should avoid trainers. If your child is serious about learning to ride, you should change to rubber riding boots or Jodphur boots with half chaps.
WHAT IS BASIC EQUIPMENT FOR BEGINNER RIDERS?
Basic equipment for beginner riders is measured in terms of safety, practicality and comfort. Many items of clothing or equipment used in other sports do not meet the standards required for horse riding. Therefore, every beginner rider should include the following in their basic equipment:
- Children's riding hat according to valid riding hat standard VG1 01.040 2014-12.
- Children's breeches with knee-patch or a full seat
- Riding boots or jodphur boots with half chaps
- Children's riding gloves
- Body protector or back protector
WHAT BASIC EQUIPMENT DO CHILDREN NEED FOR RIDING?
When the child starts riding, a few basics are sufficient for the first riding lesson. The most important equipment is the safety accessories, first and foremost a children's riding hat. Even more protection is provided by a body protector or a back protector, which cover the vulnerable back area and absorb shocks in the event of a fall. For delicate children's hands, children's riding gloves are a must to prevent painful blisters.
Whether your child wears rubber riding boots or Jodphur boots with half chaps depends on taste. Many parents opt for a combination of half chaps and Jodphur boots for their growing offspring. If the child's feet grow, it is only necessary to buy new Jodphur boots initially, while half chaps can often be worn for a longer period of time.
