Product Description
Air vest for riders with large neck airbag. Protects the upper body and neck in the event of a fall off a horse. In cooperation with SPARK, the specialist for protective air vests for riders, Felix Bühler has developed this air vest, which sets new standards in terms of safety and is certified according to the airbag vest standard NF S72-800:2022. Within 0.2 seconds of the airbag being activated, the air tubes are filled and protect the rider's back, hips, chest and neck. The extremely large airbag in the neck area offers maximum protection and can protect against serious injuries. Additional shock-absorbing foam is incorporated at the front to further increase the protective function. The airbag is activated by the operating strap, which is attached to the stirrup locks. Thanks to the one-click connector, the protective airbag vest can be quickly attached to the operating strap or detached from the saddle before dismounting. The waist belt allows adjustment to the individual waist size. After activating the airbag, simply replace the CO2 cartridge, close the hook-and-loop fastener on the neck airbag and the press stud on the hip - then the air vest is ready for use again. Upper material made of tear-resistant nylon. Included in delivery are the elasticated strap, incl. operating strap for attachment to the saddle and an Allen key. The cartridge must be purchased separately.
IMPORTANT: The airbag must be worn as the topmost item of clothing. The rider must weigh at least 30 kg and the horse must be at least 120cm (approx. 12hh) tall for the airbag to deploy properly. Please read the instructions carefully before first use.
ATTENTION: CO2 cartridge not included. This must be ordered separately (no. 340248). Only original SPARK CO2 cartridges may be used.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Felix Bühler Air Vest
What size Felix Bühler Air Vest should I choose?
The size should be chosen as for a normal body protector, so that the back of the air vest does not rest between the rider's buttocks and the saddle (when not activated, i.e. with the back button closed). The size should be taken according to the measurement list. The back length (C), which is measured from shoulder to waist, is decisive. The width can be adjusted using the waist belt. The waist belt should be adjusted, especially when changing from light outerwear to a lined winter jacket. In general, the vest should not be too small, so that the body and neck are protected as well as possible.
The following information can be used as a rough guide:
Size/Body Height: XXS 135-145cm; XS 145-155cm; S 155-165cm; M 165-175cm; L 175-185cm
How safe is the Felix Bühler Air Vest?
It is certified according to the airbag vest standard NF S72-800:2022 and has additional shock-absorbing foam integrated at the front. Compared to many other airbag vests, the Felix Bühler Air Vest has a very large neck airbag, which can prevent or reduce injuries in the neck/neck area or overstretching of the head. IMPORTANT: No body protector/air vest can completely prevent injuries. The air vest is only to be used in equestrian sports. For maximum protection, it is recommended to wear a back protector or a body protector under the air vest.
Is it normal to feel winded if the airbag is activated?
When the airbag is activated, there is a noticeable pressure at the points where the air hoses run, which is often perceived as tight by the user. This is necessary to ensure optimum protection. There is no risk of crushing etc.
How do you store replacement cartridges?
The cartridges are made of solid steel and do not require any additional impact protection during storage or transport. However, the cartridges should not be permanently exposed to high temperatures or sunlight.
When is the cartridge completely empty?
After the airbag has been activated, the remaining CO2 in the cartridge slowly flows out (soft whistling sound). Approx. 2 minutes after activation, the cartridge can be unscrewed so that the remaining CO2 escapes.
What is the white discolouration on the air vest after activation?
When the CO2 cartridge is activated, cold CO2 flows out. This condenses on the outer material. This white discolouration disappears shortly after activation and is normal.
Does it matter what kind of hat is worn together with the air vest?
The air vest can be worn with all riding hats. The large air bag around the neck can protect against overextension of the head.
What replacement parts and accessories are available?
In addition to the cartridges, we offer the operating strap for attachment to the saddle and the elasticated strap as replacement parts or optional accessories in our online shop.
How often can the airbag be deployed?
There is no limit to how often the cartridge can be replaced and the airbag activated, provided that all components of the air vest are undamaged.
