What kind of horse feed is available?

Forage in the form of grass, hay and haylage forms the nutritional basis of the horse. Since some horses cannot cover their energy requirements by eating forage alone, hard feed is added in the form of mixes and cubes. Especially for hard working horses or poor doers, this is of great importance.
Hay and hard feed can no longer provide the horse with sufficient minerals due to the washing out of the land, which is why the deficiency should be compensated for by vitamin supplements.
Supplements are available in different compositions, as they are adapted to the individual needs depending on the respective stresses and circumstances. Supplements should be fed in case of illness, for convalescence or to compensate for deficiencies. Supplements should also be fed to old horses, lactating or pregnant mares and sport horses. Licks and lick bowls can also provide the horse with necessary minerals and trace elements.
Treats can be an important contribution in horse training. At Kramer Equestrian, there is something for every taste in our range of treats. You can also give your horse or others a little pleasure by buying gift treats for the horse and passing them on as presents.

In our horse feed guide, we provide you with detailed information on the topic as well as valuable infographics that can help you decide which horse feed is appropriate for your horse.

Our horse feed range is made up of selected horse mixes and horse feed varieties and can be completed with supplements as required. The vitamins, minerals and trace elements contained in the feed provide an individual and needs-based supply for the various breeds, tailored to the respective horse's workload or various problems.

What should I look for in horse feed?

Besides a perfect quality of the horse feed, which is neither mouldy nor infested with mites, you should pay attention to the expiry date. Correct storage is necessary to maintain good quality feed. It is essential that both forage and mash or hard feed are stored correctly so that they remain free from bacterial contamination and mould. You can find out how to store feed correctly in our horse feed guide.
The choice of the appropriate horse feed is very individual for each animal. Horses in general have a very delicate digestive system that can quickly get out of hand, which is why horses can develop metabolic disorders if fed incorrectly. Horses with an already pre-loaded metabolism should be fed a grain-free diet to avoid putting undue stress on their digestion. For such candidates, we stock grain and molasses-free forage replacers and mash varieties in our shop. Some of our Original Landmühle treats are also suitable for frugal horses and ponies due to their ingredients.
Almost every horse, from the sport horse, to the leisure horse with pure hay feeding, to the brood mare and the young horse, needs a vits and mins supplement. When buying a vitamin and mineral supplement make sure that it is free of any sweeteners and flavourings, which can cause allergies in horses. Our Vitamin and Mineral Supplement Premium from Original Landmühle are designed for the special needs of your horses and do not contain any superfluous ingredients. With supplements for horses, you should keep in mind to give them only as needed and never to feed them for no reason and indefinitely. In our shop you will find a wide range of supplements for horses to cover a variety of your horse's needs.
