Product Description

Complementary feed for horses. Calcium supplement with vitamin D3 on a dextrose basis for optimal feed acceptance, which is suitable to compensate for feed-related deficiency symptoms and can promote a balanced calcium-phosphorus ratio. Calcium is found in 99% of the horse's teeth and bones. It ensures optimum bone density, i.e. the stability or strength of bones and teeth. Calcium is also involved in muscle contraction, nerve function, cell membrane function, blood clotting and heart function. Calcium also has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects in the body. A deficiency of calcium often manifests itself in muscle cramps and, in advanced stages in the adult horse, also in heart problems as well as increased susceptibility to bone fractures due to demineralisation of the bones. This means that the body draws the required, missing calcium from the bones. In young horses, calcium deficiency can also lead to deformation of the limb bones or skull. Therefore, it is also important for the mare to supply the foal with sufficient calcium while it is still in the womb. Normally, the calcium needs of a healthy horse are met by feeding sufficient amounts of good quality hay. However, a deficiency can also be caused by an excess of phosphate in the feed. In the horse's total ration, the calcium-phosphorus ratio should be between 1.5-2:1. Ideally suited for supplementary feeding of foals, young horses in growth, pregnant/lactating mares or seniors.

Feeding instructions:
Horses 50g daily.
Cobs and ponies 25g daily 1 measuring spoon corresponds to approx. 25g.

For lactating mares, the dosage may be increased to 100g daily. This feed may only be given up to 200g daily because of the higher content of feed additives compared to complete feeds.
