Which products do I need for leather care?
Leather is a natural product that has excellent properties for equestrian sports. Horse accessories made of leather are particularly hard-wearing, breathable and durable. At the same time, intensive leather care is necessary so that the material retains its properties. Without leather care, the material can become porous and cracked, the leather can harden and, if stored in an unfavourable place, it can even become mouldy. It is therefore all the more important to handle leather saddles, bridles, headcollars and long riding boots conscientiously. About four times a year, leather should be given an intensive leather care.
You will need the following products:
- Sponge or cloth
- Leather care wipes for quick cleaning
- Saddle soap
- Leather balm or leather oil
How do I care for my leather equipment correctly?
- Clean the leather with a damp cloth or sponge and leather soap.
- Soak up any remaining moisture with a cloth.
- Treat the clean leather with leather grease, leather oil or leather balm.
- Leave to soak in.
- Finally, polish.
