What helps against flies at the stable?

The most direct protection against flies for your horse is to treat it with fly repellent and cover it with a fly rug. However, to reduce the onslaught of pests on your horse, you can also equip your stable and the horse's environment with fly control products.
The best-known and simplest way to reduce the number of flies in paddocks and around the stable is to use fly traps. These are, for example, nets to hang up, in which a bowl with sweet liquid is integrated. The sweet scent attracts flies, which then fly into the net structure and cannot find their way out. The fly traps can be easily hung on trees, in the tack room, at the grooming area or in the stable aisle by means of hanging brackets.
In the fight against horseflies in the stable, there are special horsefly traps that attract the insects by infrared radiation. They are equipped with a free-hanging black ball that hangs under a funnel. The ball is heated by the sunlight and imitates the warm body of a horse for the horsefly to see. The horsefly flies at the ball but finds no food, so it wants to fly away again. But the funnel that shields the ball directs the horsefly upwards and into the collection container. There it can no longer find its way out. If this trap is also to catch wasps, a sugar concentrate can be used, as wasps, unlike horseflies, are not attracted by infrared radiation.
In the stable itself, you can hang flypaper or wide fly rolls. These attract flies by means of odour-intensive glue strips. The flies land on them and stick. The components of the flypaper are natural and absolutely non-toxic, which is why you can use them in the stable without hesitation. However, hang them up out of reach of the horses so that they do not stick to them with their mane or ears.
In our online shop you will find complete fly trap sets for repelling and catching flies in the stable and on the pasture. We also offer spare parts and refill packs for the individual traps.
