Product Description
Practical gadget to support your dog's thermoregulation in high summer temperatures: scarf made of material that can cool your dog's neck through an evaporation effect. Simply dip the scarf in cool water and wring it out gently. Attach the scarf to the dog's neck using the adjustable hook-and-loop fastener. The scarf should lie close to the dog's fur. The water will then slowly evaporate through the mesh material, creating a cooling effect for your four-legged friend, which can provide relief, especially with thicker fur. The effect lasts as long as the material is damp. This can vary depending on the outside temperature and sunlight. Ideal for hikes or summer walks without access to a lake or river. Can protect against overheating. We recommend that senior citizens or dogs with circulatory problems get used to the product slowly. The water in which the fabric is immersed should not be too cold. Mesh: 100% polyester; cooling material: 100% polyvinyl alcohol.
Important: Unlike humans, dogs cannot sweat through their skin. They only have sweat glands on their paws and otherwise only compensate for heat by panting. Dogs take up to ten times as many breaths as normal to get rid of the heat and humidity and to cool the circulating blood. In addition, their fur not only provides protection, it can also become a burden in hot temperatures and make thermoregulation more difficult.
For this reason, there are a few guidelines you should follow in summer:
Always provide your dog with shady areas and plenty of drinking water in extreme heat. Avoid walks in the midday heat and especially on hot tarmac, instead go for a longer walk in the woods in the evening and/or morning. Never leave your dog waiting in a closed car! From 20 degrees upwards, the car can heat up rapidly (up to 27 degrees after 10 minutes in the blazing sun!) and become a heat trap for your dog. The normal temperature of a dog is 37.5-39 degrees. From a body temperature of 41 degrees, the first circulatory problems occur: heavy panting, staggering, nausea and exhaustion. In the event of overheating, consult a vet immediately.
