Product Description
Oils and fats are direct energy providers, especially linseed oil is extremely popular as a feed supplement for horses due to the low protein content. 100 ml linseed oil corresponds to about 500 g of concentrated feed. Plus linseed oil has an abundant amount of fatty acids such as omega 3 and omega 6 and is protein free. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are essential fatty acids and have to be ingested with feed, as they cannot be synthesised by the body. The cold-pressed linseed is ideal for enriching the daily feed ration and is particularly useful for picky eaters or performance horses as a high-quality source of energy.
Supplementing with linseed oil is ideal for a low-protein horse nutrition. Further positive aspects of linseed oil as a feed supplement is the good digestibility, added support when changing coat (the coat shines), its anti-inflammatory effect and immuno stimulating properties.
As linseed oil improves the solubility and digestibility of fat-soluble vitamins (vitamins A, D, E and K) in feed, a jug of linseed oil is often added to juice feed, such as carrots. Only cold-pressed oils should be added to feed as they - in contrast to refined oils - are extracted without any hazardous residues. Linseed oil spoils quickly and should be refrigerated and consumed quickly.
